The (Red Mage , 赤魔道士 ? , lit. "Akamadōshi") is a Job class in Final Fantasy III . It is gained from the Wind Crystal . In the opening FMV of the DS/PSP remake, Ingus is depicted as a Red Mage. Red Mages are able to use a wide assortment of weapons, including both Black and White Magic . However, they are unable to become true masters of either school of wizardry. Unlike the Red Mages in some other games, they do not possess the ability to use Doublecast .

Famicom Version Edit
Just like the original Final Fantasy , the Red Mage can use lower level White and Black Magic . However, this ability is only really useful early in the game, since later on the player will unlock more versatile mage classes. They have weak stat progression in every stat as well. Without the ability to double cast like in Final Fantasy V , Red Mages are usually thought to be weak.
