The Red Dragon, subtitled Red D in the Nintendo Entertainment System version, is an enemy in the original Final Fantasy. They are typically the first dragons the Warriors of Light meet and are fairly difficult when first encountered.

Battle Edit

Red Dragons have a devastating Blaze attack, which deals Fire-based damage to all party members, as well as being physically powerful. Having the mages cast Ice-based spells and strong physical attacks can defeat a Red Dragon with ease.

Encounters Edit

The most famous guardian in Mount Gulg, the Red Dragon is guarding a chest with Flame Armor, which may come handy in the fight with Marilith.

Long after Mount Gulg, the player may find the Red Dragon (among other dragons) in the Lifespring Grotto optional dungeon. There, Dark Bahamut gives the heroes the task of defeating a certain number of his dragon disciples.
