Page 1: Observations

Great reapers, takers of life, ghost-kin in name but gods of death in truth. Being originally sent from on high to work upon mortals, texts in all religions mention these beings with fear and awe. While each account differs, all agree on one thing: that the reapers exist only to free the soul of its earthly bonds and bear it back to the heavens. They appear before us to foretell our deaths, appearing again only when the time for severing worldly ties has come.

Requirement and battle

Reapers spawn at almost every Waystone in the Great Crystal. In order for Reapers to spawn, the player must enter the particular zone with a total number of enemies killed within the Great Crystal divisible by three. The number of Reapers spawned each time is dependent on the zone they spawn in. In the lower levels, the player will get one or two Reapers at a time. In the upper levels, it will most often be three Reapers at a time, sometimes four at a time. Once spawned, the Reapers will remain at that zone unless killed, the player move two zones away, or leaves the spawning area for more than five minutes.

In the lower levels, Reapers are not tough enemies. They can easily be defeated by using Curaja. In the upper levels, Reapers can be tough enemies. Although they may use mid-level magicks, their attacks can inflict a lot of damage. It can instantly KO a party member using Death. It can also use its ability Dimensional Rift to kill a party member, if close to the Reaper when using it. Dimensional Rift also kills the caster. Sometimes Reapers can appear invisible. When invisible, the player must cast Reflect on a party member or Reflectga on all party members, stand close to the Reapers and use Curaja on the party and it will be reflected on the Reapers removing the invisible status.

The invisible status can also be exploited, as when invisible, the Reapers will ignore the player. Therefore the player can cast Vanish or Vanishga on them, to neutralize the Reapers.
