FFXIII-2 Fira

Noel casting Fira in Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Ravager (ブラスター, Burasutā?, lit. Blaster), abbreviated as RAV, is a role associated with Command Synergy Battle system, which first appeared in Final Fantasy XIII. They specialize in elemental abilities, including physical attacks and magic spells, and quickly building the target's chain gauge.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XIII[]

Ravagers specialize in focusing their attacks to build the foe's chain gauge. Most of them primarily use elemental magic like a traditional Black Mage, although some can also perform elemental physical attacks or even non-elemental attacks in the form of Full ATB skills.

Lightning, Vanille, Hope, Snow and Sazh specialize in the Ravager role. Lightning learns all -Ra spells and physical attacks, but is limited to one -Ga spell. Sazh specializes in fire and lightning attacks, while Snow uses ice and water attacks. Hope can learn all of the Ravager spells, but both he and Vanille lack any physical attacks. Sazh and Vanille also lack the Vigor passive ability. Though Fang does not specialize in the role, she learns all but three abilities.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

The Water element is removed, and Aquastrike is replaced with a Wind-elemental physical attack: Galestrike. Noel and Serah start out with Ravager, the latter of whose Full ATB skill belongs to this role: Ultima Arrow. There are also numerous Paradigm Pack monsters that serve as Ravagers.

Lightning in the Lightning's Story: Requiem of the Goddess DLC scenario has two roles based on the Ravager called Shaman (Wind-elemental physical attacks) and Mage (Lightning-elemental magic attacks). Caius Ballad can also assume the Ravager role, gaining Auto-Haste and Graviton, and focusing on attacking quickly and relentlessly. As a Ravager, Caius takes half damage from Magic.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII[]

Although Lightning does not have access to the Ravager role, she is able to learn most of its abilities. In addition, in his boss fight, Caius Ballad is able to assume the Ravager Stance, where he gains access to many powerful magical attacks and can combine the spells to form devastating magical combos after having charged sufficient energy. Noel uses some of the Ravager abilities in his boss fight. As an ally, Fang uses the physical elemental-strikes of the role.
