Ravagers specialize in focusing their attacks to increase the foe's Chain gauge. Most of them primarily use elemental magic like a traditional Black Mage, although some Ravagers can also do elemental physical attacks or even non-elemental attacks. Lightning, Oerba Dia Vanille, Hope Estheim, Snow Villiers and Sazh Katzroy majors in Ravager, only Oerba Yun Fang doesn't have the role as her default. Only Hope is able to learn all the elemental spells, though he is lacking in the physical attacks.
Final Fantasy XIII-2

Similarly to their XIII appearance, Ravagers specialize in focusing their attacks to increase the foe's Chain gauge. However, the Water element was completely removed from the game, and Waterstrike was replaced by a Wind-elemental physical attack: Galestrike. Noel Kreiss and Serah Farron both start out with Ravager, the latter of whom's Full ATB Skill belongs to this role.
