The Rat Tail (ネズミの尻尾, Nezumi no Shippo?) is a recurring item in the Final Fantasy series. Although it may sound worthless, it can usually be exchanged for great rewards.

Final FantasyEdit
The Rat's Tail is a treasure found in the Citadel of Trials. It must be given to Bahamut. Upon doing so, he will bless the characters by upgrading their job classes.
Final Fantasy IVEdit
The Rat Tail can be found in the Feymarch, and if given to a collector of tails inside the Adamant Isle Grotto, the player will get Adamantite in exchange, which in turn can be given to Kokkol, the dwarven smith, to forge the sword Excalibur.
Final Fantasy IV: The After YearsEdit
Rat Tail is a dummied out key item, accessible only via hacking. Biggs also mentions that Ceodore's Knight's Emblem is just a name, and it was simply a mummified rat's tail.
