—Mastery certificate description

The Ranger (狩人, Karyūdo?, lit. Hunter), also known as Hunter or Archer, is a job class in Final Fantasy III. It is gained from the Fire Crystal. Rangers are highly skilled in the way of archery. However, they can be expensive considering the need to purchase arrows. With a bow in hand and arrows readied, rangers can deal the same amount of damage from either the front line or the rear line. They can also wield boomerangs.

EtymologyEdit

A ranger is an archetype found in many fantasy fiction and role-playing games. Rangers are usually associated with the wisdom of nature. Rangers tend to be wise, hardy, cunning, and perceptive in addition to being skilled woodsmen.

TriviaEdit

  • The Ranger from Final Fantasy III marks the series' first proper appearance of the Ranger and Archer class archetype, though bow and arrows had existed as weapons since the previous game.
