Template:Sideicon Template:IncompleteTable Template:FFD Enemy Template:See Also Ramuh is an enemy in Final Fantasy Dimensions fought in the Cave of Fulmination. Defeating him gains Ramuh as an Eidolon.

Battle

Ramuh has a lot of HP and his physical attack does about 150 damage to front row characters. He can cast damaging lightning attacks, such as Thundara, Thunderbolt, and his best move, Judgment Bolt. He can cast Sleep to counter physical attacks, and Osmose to drain MP.

Strategy

The party should be around level 22-23 if possible. This threshold makes it easier for Mages to survive Ramuh's single-target Thunderbolt, which hits typically for 600+ damage. +20%HP from Red Mage can help provide a cushion. If a healer falls early to a random Thunderbolt a domino-effect can ensue, quickly wiping the party.

Barbara should be in the party and use Healing Breath, but since Barbara herself has low MP she should only do so in the latter stages of the fight when Ramuh's HP is low. Early stages she can use items to heal. Ramuh can counter attacks with one of three reprisals: a standard physical attack for roughly 150 damage, the Sleep spell, or Osmose. Protect helps to mitigate the physical attack whilst a Drowsy Ring -- available from Old Lady Ebba's House in Deist -- can protect your primary physical attacker from Sleep. Thundara and Judgement Bolt deal around 180+ and 260+ damage to the entire party; Cura is enough to alleviate both. As he gets lower on HP however Ramuh begins using Thunderbolt more often, whilst weaving in Thundara and Judgement Bolt; Slow him with a White or Red Mage to make healing between assaults easier. It is when Ramuh gets more aggressive with Thunderbolt that Barbara should help out with party-wide healing.

A good strategy for physical damage involves a combination of Warrior and Monk, using both Focus and Strike to enable high damage per-single-strike which helps alleviate damage from Ramuh's counters. Two Red Mages give unsurpassed versatility in the early stages of the game, whilst allowing the Mage to equip Focus and +20%HP to help survive the single-target Thunderbolt. The F-Ability Magic Bomb 2 (Fira+Cura) is stronger than Fira and Blizzara and can be boosted by Focus to do 900+ damage at level 23, whilst receiving only a single counter. With one Red Mage healing and the second attacking, Ramuh's 7200 HP soon disappears. Careful timing with attacks ensures Ramuh cannot overwhelm with his counters or multi-hitting spells.

Etymology

Ramuh could be based on Lahmu, who is often portrayed as a bearded man with a red sash and four to six curls on his head. Ramuh could also be loosely based on an epic Hindu poem, written by Valmiki, called Ramayana. Its protagonist is Raama (also spelled Rama), said to have been the incarnation of the Hindu god, Vishnu. The name Ramuh could be an amalgam of Raama and Vishnu.

In the Final Fantasy series, Ramuh is an old, bearded sage with a staff who casts thunder magic. He could be based on the king Ra-mu of a supposedly sunken continent, Mu. The element of lightning could come from the Hebrew word רעם (rá'am), meaning thunder, or thunderclap. His previous name, Indra, is the name of the king of the Devas in Hindu mythology, the god of rain, lightning, and storms.
