The Rabanastre Watch (ラバナスタ警備兵, Rabanasuta Keibihei?) is a friendly bangaa NPC in Final Fantasy XII. It randomly spawns in the Galtea Downs in the Dalmasca Westersand and the Yardang Labyrinth area of the Dalmasca Estersand.
As a friendly target, it triggers the "Ally:" Gambits and cannot be targeted by enemy-only Technicks. It lacks a Bestiary entry, nor does it provide LP if killed (it does provide EXP). The watch kill enemies, and if the player party is low on health, they will throw a potion or two. Early in the game they make traveling the different parts of the desert easier for a weak party by clearing the path, though later they are more annoyances by eliminating the enemies needed for a chain.
The Rabanastre Watch are charged with the protection of the areas around the Dalmascan capital of Rabanastre. All Rabanastre Watch members are bangaa. Although this does not seem immediately peculiar as bangaa are common in Dalmasca, Dalmasca is under the occupation of the Archadian Empire and non-hume races are oppressed under the imperial rule, making it hard for them to achieve high status.
It is thus presumed that the Rabanastre Watch are not connected to the Archadian administration, they're more a militia than an official watch.
The Rabanastre Watch has a 40% chance of appearing when the player enters Yarding Labyring at Dalmasca Estersand, or Galtea Downs at Dalmasca Westersand. He typically walks around nearby the player's characters.
