Battle Edit

It is moderately difficult at best due to its high Attack. In Oversoul, a Protochimera can use cast Berserk to become problematic if not treated quickly. It is best to defeat this foe as quick as possible, and first if with other enemies, with whatever is the strongest techniques the party has at the time, though physical attacks work just as well.

Fiend Tale Edit

Story Level 1: "I had two children. My son graduated top of his class from Yevon Academy and became a monk in Djose. I was so proud of him. But he hasn't returned home at all... He must have been so busy, but I would have been happy to even get a letter... My dear boy, your mother misses you..."
—Protochimera's fiend tale.

One notable Protochimera was created from the mingled spirits of a Djose family that died prior to the Eternal Calm. Their deaths by Sin were a mixed blessing as their singular form restored the fractured unity that the family once had in life. Completing this Fiend Tale and seeing the ending unlocks the Ushie Family team in the Fiend Arena.

Etymology Edit

Proto- is an English prefix that means "first."

The chimera is a fire-breathing monster, one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna. It is commonly represented with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail in Greek mythology. In modern usage, the term chimera is often taken to mean any sort of hybrid between two or more species.
