"These days, all it takes for your dreams to come true is money and power."
—President Shinra

President Shinra is, as his name implies, President of the Shin-Ra Corporation in Final Fantasy VII. However, he plays a relatively short role in the game, and was killed by Jenova during his attack on Shin-Ra Headquarters. Rufus, President Shinra's son, resumes his role as the President of the Shin-Ra Corporation.

[edit] Story

President Shinra is first seen during the attack on the Sector 5 Mako Reactor by AVALANCHE. He has foreseen this attack, and has prepared an ambush. He engages in a short conversation with Cloud, before he sets Air Buster on them.

"What was your name?... Ah yes... Forgive me if i can't remember your name, unless you become another Sephiroth."

This triggered a few questions, but before Cloud had any chance to ask them, Shinra left by helicopter.

During the infiltration of the Shin-Ra building, the party overhears a conversation between Shinra and some of his top executives, including Heidegger and Professor Hojo. He plans to leave Sector 7, which was destroyed by the Turks as a counter-attack to finish off AVALANCHE, as it is.

The Party then meets the president again in person when they are brought before him after being captured by the Turks while trying to escape with Aeris. After a brief conversation the President sends the party away to be locked up.

President Shinra is encountered one more time when the party arrives at his office, where he lies impaled by a large sword. Palmer, who was hidden during the assault, claimed that it was indeed Sephiroth who killed him.
