Template:Sideicon Template:FFXIII-2 Enemies Pantopoda is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII-2. It is first fought in Serah and Noel's dream world, although it can be found in the real version of his homeland, the Dying World, and in Academia -500 AF- afterward. It will also spawn together with groups of Pleuston, and should be prioritized since it employs wounding spells as well as inflicting Deshell.

Their HP isn't significant and the fight should not be a difficult one. The Pantopoda is also a good farming enemy, since it may drop a Potent Booster or even a vial of Phoenix Blood.

Paradigm Pack

The Pantopoda is a Saboteur. It learns some of Serah and Noel's skills, and also Curse II, Deshell II and Painga; it is the best infusion source of Painga, and a source of Woundga and Imperilga. It otherwise boasts a moderate resistance versus Dispel and learns First Strike, but other, higher-leveled Saboteurs easily outmatch it. It has very balanced stat development, and if only potent materials are used, its Strength and Magic stats will remain nearly identical. Magic will aid the chance of its magic-based status ailments taking effect, while Strength will similarly aid its casting of Curse II, Deshell II, and any other such spells, including Heavy Deprotega, Heavy Deshellga, and the like, should they be infused into the Pantopoda. Its strength is not exceptional, though; like many Saboteurs it has over 700 strength, but the Bamapama has well over 800.

It requires 31 Grade three Biological (Orb) monster materials to advance to level 15; 51 grade four Essences to level 30, and 23 grade five Crystals to its maximum level of 45. Painga at 44 requires 21 Crystals; this makes it a much less expensive infusion source of Painga than Dendrobium and a little less expensive than Deathgaze. It is also easier to encounter than Dendrobium, and very much easier to find than Deathgaze.

Etymology

Pantopoda, also known as sea spiders are arthropods of the Pycnogonida class. They are not true spiders, or even arachnids, and they are much closer to Chelicerates. Like all enemies of the Rift Beast class, the name is derived from a real class of living organism that also form part of an ancient clade of the evolutionary tree, referencing their origins in the Void Beyond.

Pantopoda's Feral Like is Deathscythe. Etymology:Deathscythe
