There have been two different releases of the original soundtracks of Final Fantasy III, corresponding to the original NES release and to the release of the DS version of Final Fantasy III.

The music of Final Fantasy III was Nobuo Uematsu's twenty-first collaboration to the video game industry.

Final Fantasy III: Original Sound Version Edit

Final Fantasy III: Original Sound Version is the complete soundtrack of the original NES version. It was not the game's first compilation album, having been released a year after the arranged album Final Fantasy III: Eternal Legend of the Wind.

The NES version never made it to western shores, and it was not until the DS version the soundtrack was widely distributed in America and the rest of the world.

Final Fantasy III: Original Soundtrack Edit

Final Fantasy III: Original Soundtrack is the complete soundtrack of the Nintendo DS version of Final Fantasy III. Also included in this album is a DVD containing the game's opening FMV sequence, a promotion video made for the game, and an interview with the game's staff. The album also contains arranged tracks not played in the game and songs that were not included on the NES version soundtrack.
