Onion Knight (たまねぎ剣士, Tamanegi Kenshi?) is a job from Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. It has Onion Knight basic stats and no real abilities. It has hidden potential, in that its power depends on the number of other jobs the unit has mastered, much like Freelancer in Final Fantasy V.

To get one level, the character must master two jobs; to get the maximum Onion Knight level the character must master fourteen jobs. However, mastering the Squire, Chemist, Mime, or Dark Knight will not count towards leveling up an Onion Knight.

The onion, also known as the bulb onion or common onion, is used as a vegetable and is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Allium.

The adjective of onion refers to the Japanese metaphoric idiom of poverty, aptly named the "Onion Life", "peeling away one layer at a time and crying all the way". Alternatively, the term could come from the slang phrase "to know one's onions", meaning to be very versatile.
