Omega (Final Fantasy: Unlimited)

From Final Fantasy Wiki

Omega (オメガ, Omega) is an entity in the animé Final Fantasy: Unlimited. It is the consumer of worlds, made up of anti-matter. Earl Tyrant desires to use the fully-restored Omega as a "toy" with which to destroy all the Outer Worlds before they are consumed by Chaos.

[edit] Story

Omega was initially a single entity, but after being "destroyed" previous to the series, its scattered body parts became dormant, turning to crystal. While most of the parts of Omega are still dormant as of the start of the animé, some have since reawakened, wreaking havoc as they search for their lost siblings in order to become whole again.

As revealed by Clear in the animé, and the spirit of Lou in Final Fantasy: Unlimited: After, Omega is not intentionally malevolent, but can't help destroying its surroundings simply by existing.

It turns out the Elizabeth, the Interdimensional Train, was powered by an Omega crystal as well as Soil. It had been attacked on three occasions, each by a different reawakened part of Omega, in attempts to retrieve it. Omega's Claw was the first to go up against the train in Subway: Enemy of the Dimensional Tunnel, but was returned to dormancy by Ifrit when summoned by Kaze. Next, in Ciel: The Departure of Chocobo, Omega's Hair had gouged away part of the dimensional tunnel in an effort to get at the train, but Kaze again showed up, summoning Titan to subdue it. Finally, in Omega: Reunion and Departure, Omega's Fin succeeded in retrieving its crystallized sibling and destroying the Interdimensional Train in the process, mainly due to Kaze not being with the party at the time. Fortunately, Ai, Yu, Lisa and the train car they were in, were saved by Fabula in the nick of time.

[edit] Clear

In Ai: Meeting with Clear, during a fight with Yu, Ai falls from one of Jane's windows into a part of the Wonderland where the ocean lies above the sky. While there she meets Clear, an iridescent boy. Clear, wearing Flying Water to keep his powers at bay, turns out to be Omega's Heart. As a result, he is sought after by Earl Tyrant and, as seen in Kaze: The Glory of Life, fails to evade capture and is "killed" for his crystal.
