Oeilvert
From Final Fantasy Wiki
- "It really isn't my kind of place."
- —Kuja
Oeilvert (ウイユヴェール, Uiyuvēru) is a location in Final Fantasy IX. Its name is derived from the French words oeil, meaning eye, and vert, meaning green. Standing on the Forgotten Continent, it is an ancient structure that holds Terran technology and has all kinds of history and information about Terra. A magic field is in effect at Oeilvert, meaning magic cannot be cast here. Kuja sent Zidane here to get the Gulug Stone, since Kuja himself was not willing to enter it due to the anti-magic field.

[edit] Story
- "Final results...are still pending... In order that our glorious history not die with us, we were constructed...."
- —Faces of Oeilvert
When Zidane and his party enter Oeilvert, they find it was was built by the Terrans, due to the amount of devices that record Terran history. These holographs strewn across the ruins depict a Terran civilization that was advanced, inquisitive about its world, yet ultimately dying. This plight is partially explained in an antechamber in Oeilvert by multiple stone faces. Despite all the information left behind by the Terrans, the player party is unable to draw any basable conclusions from the multiple holographs, and so head to the core of the ruins, where the Gulug Stone waits. The levitating construct Ark is defeated, and Zidane collects the stone.
Oeilvert is one of the locations from Terra that ended up on Gaia 5000 years ago due to Garland's failed attempt to merge the two planets into one.
