Added by FF-Suzaku- The following article is based on a subject that has not been officially named in any official Square Enix material; the current title is merely a placeholder.
Noctis's Kingdom is a yet-to-be-named city in the upcoming game, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, ruled by King Caelum. A nation said to keep the last known existing crystal in the world of Versus, it is described as a nation both highly advanced and developed, and culturally intact, with tradition vibrant and still alive with the "songs of swords and sorcery".
Through the power of its Crystal, the city has risen as a modern-day metropolis and First World-esque power, putting it in conflict with the foreign "barbarians" that wish to claim the Crystal's power as their own, leading to a cold war. Prince Noctis has been described as the last heir to the kingdom's throne, responsible for defending the kingdom from outsiders. The royal family has been compared to a mafia crime family, and said to have reigned and protected the kingdom since its ancient beginnings.
The city is a sprawling metropolis, inspired by modern-day cities like Tokyo and New York, and as such, is populated by skyscrapers and highways. Despite this, all trailers to date have depicted the city as being largely deserted. In the January 2011 trailer, toll gates located outside the city were seen stopping incoming traffic. It is unknown as to why the city may have been on lockdown. Locations within or around the city include Vallis Acerba (Latin for "Harsh Valley") and Nihilsomno (Latin for "Sleepless").
During the 2011 Square Enix Conference trailer, the kingdom is attacked by the army of enemy kingdom Niflheim, its soldiers clad in medieval armor and wielding guns. Noctis and his companions are seen to be fighting them in various environments from hallways, streets and various rooms in a building. At one point in the trailer, Noctis and the others fight on moving aircraft that are controlled by the invaders. Suddenly, a mysterious woman wielding a large spear resembling a Dragoon appears, jumps onto Noctis's aircraft and prepares to battle him.
Name
Edit
It was speculated that the name of the kingdom may be Niflheim due to a radio broadcast using the name when referring to a cold war. However, with recent news, it has been confirmed Niflheim is an opposing nation and Noctis's kingdom remains nameless.
