Nidhogg is an enemy in Final Fantasy X found in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth and in Mt. Gagazet. It is a fire-breathing drake with a hide so tough only Piercing weapons deal full damage.

Stats[]

Battle[]

Nidhogg is powerful and uses a Fire-based magic attack called Flame Breath that hits all party members. It has a thick, scaly hide, taking reduced damage from physical attacks that don't have the Piercing property. Nidhogg has a 50% chance of prioritizing physical attacks on Yuna, or the party member with the lowest HP if she isn't present. Against aeons, it uses its Breath attack half of the time, or always against Valefor. When Provoked, they use an attack with reduced accuracy.

Nidhogg will drop weapons with any of the elemental strikes and armor with Slow Ward. In the original JP/NA version, they drop weapons with Strength +3% and Magic +3% instead of Distill Power.

Strategy[]

It is best to use Auron and Kimahri's piercing weapons for physical damage. The player can protect against Flame Breath with Yuna's NulBlaze. Summoning Ifrit works as well, since he absorbs fire and aeons have Piercing naturally in their physical attack. Lulu should use ice spells on her turn.
