Etymology
Edit
The Myrmidons are warriors commanded by Achilles in The Iliad. They supposedly originated from ants. This may explain this unit's ant-like shape. Also, in keeping with the theme of the other Tilters, its name also means "one who follows orders without question, protest, or pity," which is quite fitting for a war-machine.
Trivia
Edit
- If one analyzes the Myrmidon's appearance, one may notice that besides an ant, it also somewhat resembles the Hunters of the Halo series of games for the Xbox, Xbox 360, and PC.
- The last part of its Japanese name translates as "Krieger," a German word, meaning "Warrior."
- Interestingly, its German name, "Orion-Drohne," translates into "Orion Drone," even though an enemy called "Orion" exists in the game and is of the same Type/Subtype.
- In Final Fantasy XIII-2, Myrmidon is seen in screenshots in Bresha Ruins -005 AF- in sunny weather, but it actually does not appear in the game.
