Movement abilities (ムーブアビリティ, Mūbu Abiriti?, lit. Move Ability) are abilities that once equipped, are activated when a character just takes a step. They are common in the Tactics spinoff series. The Lifefont, skill that allows the wearer to accumulate HP by walking around the field, is seen in many games.
In Final Fantasy VIII several things, while not exactly abilities, are determined by the amount of steps the party takes. Steps determine the rate draw points refill, how fast Rinoa learns Angelo's Combine abilities and how often the party is paid their salary. Steps can quickly be earned by riding a chocobo or driving a car.
