FFT0 Balmung

Class Zero destroying Balmung.

A Fog-Laden Foray (霧中の襲撃, Muchū no Shūgeki?, lit. A Raid in the Fog) is the Code Crimson mission of Chapter 3 in Final Fantasy Type-0. It takes place on Gla. XXV, its initial mission level is 37 and it has no limits regarding the number of participants.

The mission is begun by going to Rokol and talking to Naghi in the magitek armor and choosing "Locate another base".

Briefing

The only way to halt magitek armor production is to destroy the factory where parts are being made, and thus Central Command orders the cadets to decimate Frosti Base. Fortunately, a thick fog enshrouds the facility, so Class Zero can use the climate as cover to sneak in and destroy the base.

Strategy

Azurr District

The cadets must locate the factory on the snowfield while riding a magitek armor that keeps running out of fuel and needs to be resupplied by the tanks scattered along the field. However, the destination is so close there is no need to refuel; the player can simply follow the yellow marker for a short distance and the mission starts.

Captain Talbot

The first areas are dense with fog, meaning enemies struggle noticing the player. The cadets face Martinets, Imperial Troopers, RPG-155 Gunners and a Commanding Officer (Captain Talbot) standing on crates. A ranged cadet is ideal since enemies won't easily notice the player, allowing for easy Breaksight/Killsight strikes. This is a good mission for farming Killsights. Trey has the longest range.

Frosti Depot N-15

The cadets must take down the Supersoldiers and Imperial Troopers to bring down the energy wall. In the second portion of the area there is a Commanding Officer (Lieutenant Stewart) and more Imperial Troopers. There is an item in front of the sniper tower (Support Serum). The area has two exits: one to the east right past the energy wall, and the other going north where the yellow marker is pointing to. The party should head for the optional route if they want to do a special order.

Frosti Depot N-17

The area's SO is to avoid being spotted for 5 minutes yielding an Elixir. This can be a challenge because the cadets might need to take out a few enemies. There are some Martinets flying about, as well as some Imperial Troopers. The cadets can simply kill all enemies before accepting the SO and then wait for the timer to expire.

With a ranged cadet the player can target the Martinet that moves to the right from where the cadets entered, and hit it when it moves completely that way. Afterward the cadet can kill the Trooper atop the crate straight ahead. There is a Commanding Officer in a Warrior-type MA here (Captain Baxter) and an item on the ground (Support Serum/Strength Serum).

After clearing the area the cadets can follow the yellow marker to the next area.

Frosti Depot N-18

This area has Militesi Coeurls, Heavy Gunners and an RPG-155 Gunner.

Frosti Depot N-21

The area's SO is again to avoid being spotted for five minutes for a new spell: Invisible. The player can simply wait at the entrance until the timer expires, or kill all enemies before accepting the SO. The area has Martinets, Imperial Troopers, and Warriors, one of them a Commanding Officer (Captain Enright). There is an item between two crates here (First Aid Kit) next to a chainlink fence; ranged attacks can be used to down the Warriors on the other side.

Frosti Depot N-24

This area has some Imperial Troopers and a Supersoldier, with the SO to defeat the latter for Wildfire Daggers, a weapon for Rem. Instead of following the yellow marker, the cadets should take the exit south to Frosti Depot N-27.

Second Lieutenant Kretchmer

There are Imperial Troopers and Martinets here, as well as a Commanding Officer Nymurod (Second Lieutenant Kretchmer). There is an item in the corner next to a crate (First Aid Kit/Strength Serum). The cadets can now follow the yellow marker to Frosti Depot N-28.

The fog clears and MAs appear.

Crossing the crates has the fog dissipate and enemies spawn: a Striker and two Colossi and these MA will continue spawning for four waves. There is a recovery portal on the crates the cadets cross. The next area, Frosti Depot N-29, is a safe zone, where it starts snowing. It has a recovery portal

Frosti Depot N-31

The area's SO requires eliminating all enemies within three minutes for a Lamia's Scythe, a weapon for Sice. The enemies are Strikers, Militesi Coeurls, Imperial Troopers and Martinets.

The cadets battling a Colossus.

The cadets must down the Imperial Troopers and Colossi to dispel the energy wall. Once the path is clear the cadets will find more Imperial Troopers and Colossi. The next area is a safe zone with a recovery point and relic terminal.

Imperial Command

The cadets face the boss, Balmung alongside some Militesi Coeurls. The Balmung attacks with machine gun fire and missiles. The cadets can farm the Couerls during the boss fight to reach 70 phantoma for the S-rank. The player must not stand in one spot for too long, or the sniper lurking in the area will kill them.

Fog-Laden-Foray5-Type0-HD

The sniper targeted.

After vanquishing Balmung, the player must down the sniper with Trey. The sniper should be right below where the cursor is at the beginning, in front of the cave entrance. The player should watch for blue markers on the reticule. Hitting the sniper completes the mission.

Gla. XXV – A Fog-Laden Foray

The dominion was prepared to carry out a mission to infiltrate and destroy the factory responsible for producing a dangerous new magitek armor prototype. Moments before the operation went underway, however, Dominion Intel received word that imperial scientists were conducting research and developing new MA parts at Frosti Base. Hence, to prevent the completion of the new MA, Central Command ordered a cadet task force to destroy the base and put a stop to the entire production.

Fortunately, a thick fog enveloped the facility, and the cadets were thus able to slip inside the base practically undetected. The cadets succeeded in demolishing the factory, accomplishing their mission and dealing a devastating blow to the development of the empire's new MA.
