Minwu makes a cameo as a tutor from the in-game manuals, explaining the battle set-up to the player with Gordon. Minwu is also the name of a Ghost Card. The Minwu ghost is a level 100 Firion, and has the Yellow Gem and Wild Rose to win by battlegen. Minwu's shield is also used by Firion.

A White Wizard from Mysidia, the town of mages, who serves the Kingdom of Fynn. After his own homeland is destroyed by the Palamecian Empire, he works together with Firion and the others as a vital member of the rebellion. Following the final words of the fallen king of Fynn, he embarks for the Mysidian Tower to find what awaits there.
Minwu is solely for players who struggle with the more difficult music stages, and thus all his abilities are focused in reducing overall damage and recovering the HP gauge. He also has decent Luck, and combined with the Sight ability can increase the players chance of obtaining more items in field stages. However, as his stats are weighted around defence, he's more suited in the back row and for beginner players.

Minwu returns as an unlockable character, and is now be unlocked by collecting Purple Crystal Shards.
Minwu maintains his role as a healer, and along with more defensive abilities, he gains an increase in offense with the ability to summon Odin, and being one of three characters to utilise Ultima, which activates when encountering boss-type enemies. Coupled with Minwu's high Magic which can be boosted, players may want to level him up more to reach his maximum potential.

Minwu is a playable character who could be initially recruited during the Challenge Event Seer of Destiny as the First Time Reward for completing the event's The Cyclone stage on the Classic difficulty.
Minwu is a Court White Mage, whose combat role is Healing Magic.
He may not win fans' hearts as the ladies in his profession do; at first glance, Minwu is little more than a Devout in exotic garb. But he was the original—the first Devout with a name and a story to tell. As most white mages, Minwu will develop very slowly and does not have much HP nor Defense on his side. Although, to his credit, his HP is above average for a white mage, only he and Y'shtola among the white mages can equip shields to patch up their Defense, and like Sephiroth in Attack and Shantotto in Magic, Minwu has the highest Mind in the game. What he does is bring much-needed support to his delegation, which is heavily weighted with melee attackers. If the player can keep Minwu upright with high-level healing and buffing spells, all the better for the party.
Minwu can use White Magic abilities up to rarity rank 5.
The robe White Robe (II) allows Minwu to use Teleport XVI, which at the expense of one Soul Gauge segment deals three white magic non-elemental attacks to all targets, and interrupts their pending actions as long as they are not immune to being interrupted. Each hit has a multiplier of 3.16x, totalling at 9.48x.
The staff Healing Staff (II) allows Minwu to use Will of the White Mage, which at the expense on one Soul Gauge segment instantly restores a large amount of HP to all allies. The heal power is equivalent to that of a Curaga. It also increases Mind by 10 upon Mastery.
The rod Stardust Rod (II) allows Minwu to use Seal of Heaven, which at the expense on one Soul Gauge segment deals four white magic holy attacks to all targets, grant Haste and major Regen to all allies, and grant Burst Mode to the user. The commands Minwu gains access to are Cure X, a command that instantly restores a very large amount of HP to one ally, healing power equivalent to that of a Curaja, and Spell Sap XVI, which deals two white magic holy attacks to all targets with a multiplier of 3.04x for each hit, totalling 6.08x, and lower their Magic and Mind by 20% for 15 seconds. It also increases Mind by 10 upon Mastery.
Minwu can equip the following weapon types: daggers, rods, and staves. The staff Healing Staff (II) allows Minwu to use Will of the White Mage. The rod Stardust Rod (II) allows Minwu to use Seal of Heaven.
