Template:Sideicon The Mimic Queen is the third boss in Final Fantasy XII, fought in the Barheim Passage. During the fight, she spawns Tiny Batteries periodically. She is a giant mimic, man-made creatures made to look like treasure coffers. Their creation is chronicled in the back pages of the Urutan-Yensa bestiary entry. The inventor was hired to create a weapon powerful enough to slay a mighty dragon, but the relationship between the inventor and the client went awry and he released the mimics, now able to reproduce on their own via mothers that lay eggs. The Mimic Queen appears to be one of these mothers.

Page 1: Observations
Of the gregarious hordes of mimics, the Queen alone possesses the ability to reproduce. Her egg-laying capabilities being truly astounding, she has been known to lay over 100 eggs in a single day.
The eggs, already quickened within their mother, hatch with little delay into the creatures known as "tiny batteries," creating a veritable army overnight. Such is a day in the life of the Queen, and she will have very many of them, for Queens can remain fertile for several hundreds of years.
Stats
Battle
Mimic Queen begins with four Tiny Batteries and spawns new ones throughout the battle. The player should ignore the Tiny Batteries and concentrate on the Mimic Queen. As her spawn, she is weak to Ice, so Blizzard should be cast against her. The player is advised to stick to Potions and Hi-Potions for healing so as to conserve MP for Blizzard.
The Queen's cinematic attack, Shockstorm, does upwards of 150 damage to the entire party, so the player should keep their health up during the battle to avoid being KO'd. A long Quickening chain can do heavy damage to the queen, knocking off half her HP or more instantly, but this can be a poor way to begin the battle as it drains the party's MP. Thus, the player may wish to keep a party member's MP at max until the queen is weak, then use a Quickening chain to finish her off quickly. In the Zodiac versions, Quickenings no longer use up MP, so starting off the battle with a chain is safe.
Rewards
Montblanc will give 300 gil for killing the Mimic Queen.
Ancient Warmech
According to the story from the Urutan-Yensa bestiary entry, the Mimic Queen was created the same way as Omega Mark XII, and its creator made it to show his disagreement with his Patron, and led it into his Palace's cellars.
When the player reports the Queen's death to Montblanc, they receive a letter of thanks for proving that a girl's father was innocent; this father probably being the Patron, accused of creating and/or releasing the Mimic Queen.
Other appearances
Pictlogica Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy Record Keeper
The Mimic Queen returns as a boss, and just as her appearance in Final Fantasy XII she is weak to ice and uses lightning based attacks.
Battle
The battle against the Mimic Queen is much simpler as the player doesn't need to concern themselves with the Tiny Batteries. Watch out for Ground Shaker and Shockstorm as these are her most powerful abilities, meaning the player should focus on resistance with shell and mage focused equipment. Another option, is to use Berserk on her, rendering her unable to use her magic attack, following with slow and protect to reduce damage taken. Since her battle isn't much difficult, the player should easily be able emerge victorious.
