Attacus uses Meditate in Final Fantasy XIII.

Calm your mind to streamline movement, resulting in shorter ability cooldown.
—Description, Final Fantasy Explorers.

Meditate (瞑想, Meisō?, lit. Meditation) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.

Appearances Edit

Final Fantasy XI Edit

Meditate is an ability available to Samurai of level 30 or higher. When it is used, the Samurai will gain 20% TP for the next 5 ticks. This allows the Samurai to quickly build his TP bar for the use in Weapon Skills. There are items, such as the level 60 Artifact Armor helm, the Myochin Kabuto, that will increase this effect so it lasts a few more ticks. In the case of the Myochin Kabuto, Meditate will give 140% TP total, rather than 100% TP.

Final Fantasy XII Edit

Meditate is an enemy ability that fully restores the user's MP. It can be used by Adamantitan, Aspidochelon, Darksteel, Emeralditan, Gil Snapper, Shadowseer, Silicon Tortoise, and Thalassinon.

Final Fantasy XIII Edit

Attacus can use Meditate after using Peerless Blade. After charging power for an extended period of time, the Undying deals a devastating amount of damage to a single party member.

Etymology Edit

Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind, or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or as an end in itself. The term meditation refers to a broad variety of practices including techniques designed to promote relaxation, to build internal energy, and develop compassion, love, patience, generosity and forgiveness. Meditation has been practiced since antiquity as a component of numerous religious traditions and beliefs. Meditation often involves an internal effort to self-regulate the mind and is often used to clear the mind and ease many health issues, such as high blood pressure, depression, and anxiety.
