Materia is a goddess of machinery who appears in the arcade version of Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. She opposes Spiritus and is known as the Sublime Goddess of Protection.
Materia has long blonde hair with red tips and a clasp on a single section on the left side and gold eyes. She wears a long white cage dress with blue and gold gear-like designs. She has a small white and blue hat with gear attachments on top and white high-heels with gear-like heels. She has five blue and gold swords attached to her back.
When World B collapsed, everything that still was there was erased from existence, including Cosmos, who was waiting for the inevitable oblivion after Cid's attempts to leave the world together. However, not everything disappeared: her will somehow survived.
This will eventually took form, and thus, Materia was born.
Creation and developmentEdit

Materia means "matter" or "substance" in Latin. It also means "subject" in Italian and Spanish, and is the ascendant of Portuguese "Matéria".
In Japanese, Materia's name is pronounced in a similar fashion to that of the magic orbs from the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. However, the first syllable in her name is held for an extra mora, as indicated by the ー (chōonpu?) following マ (ma?).
