Magnitude 8 (マグニチュード8, Magunichūdo 8?) is a recurring enemy ability in the series. It is a powerful Earth-elemental attack that hits the entire party.

VI Magnitude 8 is an enemy ability used by Hill Gigas, Oceanus, Angler Whelk, Landworm, Abyss Worm, Earth Dragon, Omega Weapon, Visage, Gorgimera, Ultros (3rd), Antares, Number 024, Crane (Left), Crane (Right). It inflicts Earth-elemental damage to the party with a spell power of 100, hit rate of 130, and a cost of 20 MP.

FFVIICC Magnitude 8 is an enemy ability used by Vajradhara Asura, Vajradhara Karura, Vajradhara Rakshasa. It inflicts major non-elemental damage to Zack and knocks him to the ground.

EtymologyEdit

Magnitude 8 refers to the Richter magnitude scale that assigns a magnitude number to quantify the energy released by an earthquake. A magnitude 8 earthquake will cause major damage to buildings. It will cause damage in large areas and felt in extremely large regions.
