The Magic Urn uses a variety of healing-type spells on the party, so there is no need to attack it. After a while it will leave.

Final Fantasy VI PlayStation Bestiary entry

The Magic Urn is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI. It is the only regular enemy in the Cultists' Tower to appear on the Veldt and have a Rage. The Magic Urn makes a useful defensive Rage for Gau, giving him absorption to all eight elements, resistances to most status ailments, and letting him cast Curaga to heal allies.

Stats[]

Battle[]

The Magic Urn is a peculiar enemy as it will never harm the party, instead using healing items and spells on them. They will cast Raise and Arise on KO'd party members, then use healing items on them, such as Elixirs, Hi-Ethers, and Remedies. Each turn after they use an item, Magic Pots have a 33% chance to flee from battle, and have the same chance to flee if damaged. Killing the Pots is required to add them to the in-game bestiary in the Advance and 2014 versions.

Strategy[]

The player is advised to use Osmose on the Magic Pots to restore the party's MP before they flee.

When encountered in the Cultists' Tower, the only ways to kill them are to use non-elemental spells, such as Ultima and Meteor, summoning Quetzalli with the party equipped with non-elemental weaponry, or have Umaro present, Gogo mimicking Umaro, or have Gogo afflicted with the Imp Imp status and then try to use Mimic.
