Template:Sideicon Template:FFI Enemies The Mage Chimera is an enemy in the Dawn of Souls and succeeding versions of the original Final Fantasy. They are either the forms of the Chimera Mages from Final Fantasy III, or the series' own version of the famous Hocus Chimaeras from Dragon Quest. Mage Chimeras appear on the Flying Fortress 31-39 floors in the Whisperwind Cove.
Like its family members who appear earlier, Mage Chimera likes to use the Blaze attack, which deals Fire damage to the entire party. It is a Fire-based enemy that gives a great amount of EXP and gil.
Mage Chimeras are distinguishable from other Chimeras by their gray fur.
Etymology
The chimera is a fire-breathing monster, one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna. It is commonly represented with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail in Greek mythology. In modern usage, the term chimera is often taken to mean any sort of hybrid between two or more species.
