Machine is not strictly a type, however a tutorial on elements explains that Lightning elemental damage works well on "mechanical things". Mechanical things are also immune to Frog and Small, and are commonly immune to other statuses such as Poison.
An enemy that curiously does not follow the rules of mechanical things is Death Machine, who has no elemental affinities or status immunities. Other mechanic-looking enemies that do not count include Proud Clod, Guardian, the Bullmotor enemies, the Sword Dance enemies, the Golem enemies, and the Smogger enemies.
