The character draws the attention of foes and will be their sole target. The effect is temporary.
Lure (おとり, Otori?, lit. Decoy) is a status effect in Final Fantasy XII. While Lure is in effect, it will cause creatures to attack a specific player character. In this way, the player can, to some extent, control the damage that his casters take by focusing enemy attention only on player characters with high defensive characteristics. Lure works by overriding enemy AI and enmity of party members and forcing them to attack the target rather than altering the target's enmity. Lure works on enemies even if they are Berserked. The only instance where Lure does not work is if the Lured party member is not in the detection range of the enemy.
Lure is granted by the spell Decoy. Strangely, the game treats Decoy as if it is casting a negative status effect upon the character, meaning the spell can miss and be resisted. The icon for the status is a duck, which reflects the origin of decoy. In the Japanese version, the icon is a Kanji character "囮" for otori.
