The Luminous Robe (ひかりのローブ or 光のローブ, Hikari no Rōbu?), also known as the Light Robe and Glimmering Robes, is a recurring robe in the series. It is a high-ranking magical garment, and can be equipped by most magical jobs. It is sometimes related to the Half MP ability.

The Light Robe is the second best armor equippable by the White Mage class line (beaten only by the White Wizard exclusive Lordly Robes). It gives +5 Intelligence, +35 Defense, and +2 Weight. It is found in Whisperwind Cove.

The Luminous Robe can be equipped by Tellah, Porom, Palom, Rosa, Rydia, and Fusoya, and grants resistance to the Lightning element, as well as providing +12 Defense, +9 Magic Defense and Magic Evasion, and +5 Spirit and Intelligence. It is bought for 30,000 gil in the Feymarch, and one can be found in the Lunar Ruins. It is Fusoya's starting armor in all versions and Rydia's starting armor when she rejoins the party in the 3D version.
Luminous Robe returns in the sequel of Final Fantasy IV. It can be equipped by Rosa, Palom, Porom, and Rydia. It can be bought at the Dwarven Shop on the Falcon for 30,000 gil. It has a defense of 12, magic defense of 9, and magic evasion of 9 with a bonus of +5 Intelligence & Spirit. It also grants resistance to Lightning and Undead.

The Light Robe can be equipped by Vivi, Dagger, Quina, and Eiko. It teaches Full-Life, Auto-Potion, and Half MP, increases Shadow, Holy, and Fire-elemental attacks and slightly increases Magic Power, Strength, and Spirit.
The Glimmering Robes are high-level robes that can be equipped after obtaining the Mystic Armor 11 license. They provide +39 Defense, +12 Magick Power, and +10 Vitality. They can be purchased in the Barheim Passage after the events at Giruvegan for 16,000 gil.
The material in this robe has been woven from threads that glow faintly with magick.
The Luminous Robe (known as Light Robe in the PlayStation version) is the most powerful robe purchasable in common Outfitters. It grants a 50 MP bonus and a 100 HP bonus to the wearer, but grants no special effects. It becomes available at the shops in Chapter 4 after the Bethla Sluice battle.

Luminous Robes returns as a level 60 robe that provides +2322 HP, +34 Bravery, and +5% Magic Defense. It can be obtained by trading 98,020 gil, Traveler's Vestment, Siren's Veil, and Harlequin's Dream x5.
