Crystal cave

Lucrecia's Cave in Final Fantasy VII.

Lucrecia's Cave (ルクレツィアのほこら, Rukuretsia no Hokora?) is a location in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII hidden behind a waterfall in the center of the Western Continent on the borders of both the Gold Saucer Area and the Nibel Area, although the cave is only accessible from the latter. The cave holds importance to Vincent Valentine.

The cave is never referred to by a proper name in-game, known only as ??? (???, ????) in the menu in Final Fantasy VII. The location is referred to as "Lucrecia's Cave" in the BradyGames guide for Final Fantasy VII, and referred to by a similar name in the Ultimania guides for both Final Fantasy VII and Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-. The location is also commonly known as "Crystal Cave" by fans.

Final Fantasy VII

Template:Sideicon Lucrecia Crescent moved to the cave after the birth of her child, Sephiroth. She wanted to isolate herself from the world and die for her sins, but was unable to due to the Jenova cells inside her. If the party visits the cave with Vincent they hear the tale of Sephiroth's conception and the origin of Vincent's powers. When Vincent tries to approach Lucrecia she tells him to stay away. She says she has been dreaming of Sephiroth lately, and Vincent lies that Sephiroth is dead, though she knows it's not true. When they return to the cave later Lucrecia is nowhere to be seen, but Vincent finds a weapon and a Limit Break manual in the cave.

Location

CrystalCaveLoc

Location of Lucrecia's Cave, indicated by crosshair.

Lucrecia's Cave is located at the center of Gaia's western continent. The stream it is found behind divides the Gold Saucer Area and the Nibel Area.

In Final Fantasy VII Lucrecia's Cave is a one-room location entered from the World Map. The cave can only be accessed by green, black, or gold chocobo, or by going through an underwater tunnel on the northeast of the continent beneath the North Corel Area by submarine.

There is nothing to interact with in this area unless certain requirements are met for the sidequest.

Quests

Final Fantasy VII

Death Penalty and Chaos

After Cloud has returned to the party after the Mideel events in Part 2, the player can start a sidequest at the cave. The player must have acquired Vincent and have a means of getting to the location. If Vincent is in the player's party and accesses the cave, Lucrecia will appear and tell of the experiments involving herself, Sephiroth, and Vincent in Shinra Mansion.

Afterward the player must exit and fight ten random encounters. Returning with Vincent in the party, his Limit Break manual and his ultimate weapon, Chaos and Death Penalty respectively, can be found at the back of the cave, which is otherwise empty.
