She lives in Maranda and has a boyfriend who is an Imperial soldier who arrived in Mobliz after being badly wounded for attempting to escape the Imperial Army. Her boyfriend constantly sends her letters, but after being wounded he can no longer write. The player can choose to send letters to Lola in his stead, giving the player the opportunity to receive a Tintinnabulum.
However, after the end of the world, her boyfriend passed away. Cyan Garamonde began writing letters in his stead. However, he eventually stopped after the player party found him on Mt. Zozo. If the party returns to Lola with Cyan in the party, Cyan will replace the most recent letter with another that says that he has been writing in her boyfriend's stead and that her boyfriend passed away.
Lola is a feminine given name, a short form of the Spanish name Dolores, meaning "sorrows".
- In the Dawn of Souls and 20th Anniversary remakes of the original Final Fantasy, Lola is one of the automatic names the player can choose for the Red Mage job.
- The story of Lola, her boyfriend and Cyan matches perfectly the one of Roxane, Cyrano and Christian in the French author Edmond Rostand's play, Cyrano de Bergerac. Roxane is in love with Christian, but Cyrano keeps writing letters to her after Christian's death, making as if he was still alive.
- Since Cyan is in the party when the player first reaches Mobliz and meets the wounded soldier, and as a result of the recent loss of his wife and son, Elayne and Owain, he (as opposed to the loyal and somewhat emotional Sabin) is more suited to the role of continuing to mail Lola in her boyfriend's stead.
