The spells in Final Fantasy V are split into three categories; White Magic which can be used by White Mages or Red Mages, Black Magic which can be used by Black Mages or Red Mages, and Time Magic which can be used by Time Mages. All spells in the game must be bought, with a few exceptions that can be found (but if missed, can be bought later on in the game). In addition, after leveling up or mastering a job that has the type of magic (say, getting White Mage to Level 2 and learning White Magic Lv2), any job can use the magic of the desired level. In order for a player to use all spells of a particular type of magic, that player must have any of these Jobs up to Level 5. Note that Red Mages can only use up to Level 3 of both Black and White Magic.

White MagicEdit

White Magic is the primary ability for White Mages, and they don't need the specific level if their current job is White Mage.

Blue MagicEdit

The player will have to learn Blue Magic abilities to gain enemy spells. If a character's current job is not a Blue Mage, the character will have to have the Learning ability and have a Blue Magic spell cast on him/her to learn the spell.

SummonEdit

Summon is the primary ability for Summoners, and they don't need the specific level if their current job is Summoner. In the table below there are two names for each summon: the upper one is the name of the summoned monster, while the lower one is the name of the performed technique.

Like Black Mages and White Mages, the Mystic Knight can use any of the Spellblade abilities provided the spell is gained. If Spellblade is the secondary command for say, a Knight, it returns to whatever Level it's at Mystic Knight.

SongsEdit

Bards can sing enchantments to boost party's stats, hurt the undead and to inflict status ailments on opponents.

Dark ArtsEdit

Dark Arts is the primary ability for Necromancers, and they don't need the specific level if their current job is Necromancer.
