FFVI Relm Arrowny Menu iOS Relm: I couldn't miss the chance to practice my drawing!
This article is in need of a few pictures. Perhaps you can help by uploading a picture of White Magic, Black Magic, Summon, and Twincast screenshots of the iOS version.

There are six types of spells in Final Fantasy IV; White Magic, which is primarily focused on restoring HP and healing statuses; Black Magic, which is focused on damaging with elemental spells and inflicting statuses; Ninjutsu, which casts statuses and deals elemental damage; Summon magic, which calls the Eidolons; and Twincast, which can be cast when both Palom and Porom are alive.

Rydia, Tellah, Fusoya and Palom can all use Black Magic, while child Rydia, Porom, Rosa, Paladin Cecil, and Fusoya can use White Magic. Ninjutsu is exclusive to Edge and Summon is exclusive to Rydia. There are also more spells exclusive to the Nintendo DS version that other characters can cast.

Note that the All category for the MP Cost in the charts below encompasses the original SNES, Easy Type, J2e, PS, GBA, and PSP's MP costs.

Item MagicEdit

Spells that can be classified in the above spell list will not be documented here, such as Flame Rod casting Fire and Triton's Dagger casting Flood. Only spells that have no equivalent in White Magic, Black Magic, Summon, Ninjutsu, and Twincast will be list below.

Item Magic is cast by using certain weapons from the Item menu during battle. The weapon must be equipped and unlike real magic spells, these spells does not cost any MP to cast. All spells can be reflected, except for the Dancing Dagger spell. Item Magic spells only target a single enemy. Note that Item Magic's spell names are hidden due when the player uses an item, the name used will be that of the name of the item which overrides whatever spell name it is using in reality. Item Magic can still be used even if the user is affected by the Silence status.

In the DS version, Item Magic's power increases and decreases with the modification of the Spirit and Intelligence stats. The spells were also classified into either White Magic or Black Magic. Heal, Basuna, and Poisona are considered White Magic spells while Mage Arrows and Dancing Dagger are Black Magic spells.
