Lion Heart (エンドオブハート, Endo obu Hāto?, lit. End of Heart) is Squall Leonhart's signature attack that first appeared as his ultimate finishing attack to his Renzokuken Limit Break in Final Fantasy VIII. The attack is performed with the ultimate weapon of the same name and attacks the opponent multiple times, similar in execution to other Final Fantasy protagonists' ultimate attacks, such as Cloud Strife's Omnislash.
Lion Heart is a physical attack that can do critical damage. Squall has four different finishing blows in total with a fixed chance of occurring depending on which weapon Squall has equipped. Lion Heart has a 25% chance of being executed when Squall performs a finisher in his Renzokuken Limit Break with his ultimate weapon equipped. Lion Heart strikes a single opponent seventeen times.
After Zell's Duel, it is the strongest Limit Break in the game; during optimal conditions, a total of 249,975 points of damage is possible in one attack round. Lion Heart can easily do 9999 damage per hit even with average strength and no Vit 0.
Squall's EX Burst in the Dissidia Final Fantasy series is Renzokuken, requiring him to successfully time presses of the R button to land a potential eight hits. He finishes the EX Burst with a variation of Lion Heart; rather than attack enemies with several rapid attacks, it is downplayed to a single attack reminiscent of the final blow seen in the original, where Squall charges energy into his gunblade and dashes past the opponent to strike them once, releasing a shockwave on impact. Lion Heart has 20 power with its single hit, making it responsible for 20% of the full power in Squall's EX Burst.
Lion Heart remains the final blow of Squall's EX Burst, with identical properties.
Lion Heart is Squall's exclusive skill, learned at Level 40 and costing 18 CP to equip. During BMS, whenever a boss-type enemy enters Lion Heart activates automatically to inflict damage based on Squall's Strength, Agility and Luck.
Squall can use Lion Heart in Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade.
Lion Heart means to possess or display courage, being able to face and deal with danger or fear without flinching.
The name in the Final Fantasy series comes from Squall, who has a lion theme to his character represented also in his ultimate attack, the Lion Heart.
