- "One of the many Stellazzio in the world. Leo was waiting for the sun to set into the ocean. Then Cancer showed up, and they began to fight. Into the ocean they fell."
- —Final Fantasy IX.
The Leo Subligar is one of the thirteen Zodiac subligaria, which can obtained from a Fomor Dragoon in specific level-capped dungeons around Tavnazia. It is used to obtain the "Wyvern Mail," a heavy armor worn by Dragoons.
The Esper Hashmal, aligned with the element of Earth, embodies the sign of Leo. In the International version, the Leo emblem is represented by the Knight Job. Leo Gems are dropped by Dragon-type enemies.
Leo is one of the twelve Zodiac Stones. It is perhaps the catalyst for a major part of the storyline of Final Fantasy Tactics, as the Lucavi Hashmal, second in command under Ultima, dwells within. Through circumstances unknown, the Leo Stone possesses prominent Knights Templar member Folmarv Tengille and embarks on a quest to restore Ultima to power. Throughout the game, Folmarv collects and disperses other Zodiac Stones to suitable hosts in an attempt to revive the Lucavi's power. After Ramza Beoulve collects eleven of the stones and corners Folmarv in the Airship Graveyard, the Leo Stone morphs the knight into Hashmal in a last bid to keep its mission alive.
Leo is also a zodiac sign used to determine damage compatibility between characters during battle. Leo has optimal compatibility with Aquarius, good compatibility with Sagittarius and Aries, and bad compatibility with Taurus and Scorpio.
The Leo Recipe appears as a trade accessory.
