Layle is the protagonist of the upcoming game, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. He is a Clavat who, unlike previous protagonists that head off on a journey to become a hero, is already a complete hero. For this reason, he is a very confident character, and has been seen flirting with Belle. Layle is a blond-haired man who wears a distinctive black and white jacket and goggles. He is voiced by Makoto Yasumura in the Japanese version

[edit] Story
- "Leave it to me."
- —Layle
When the story begins, Layle is already a well-known hero. At some point before the main story's beginning, he acquires a Crystal and becomes a Crystal Bearer. As the game opens, Layle is on a boring escort mission, guarding an enormous new passenger airship on its maiden voyage. The airship is eventually attacked by an army of monsters led by a Yuke named Amidatelion.
[edit] Abilities
Layle has the ability to lift and toss enemies with a strange power. Besides lifting enemies, he is also able to lift objects and even people. He has the ability to battle in midair, as well. When he uses his powers, the crystal embedded in his cheek begins to glow.
It is said that along with his abilities, Layle will be able to use standard weapons. A weapon he is seen using is a large type of firearm when he is battling in the air.

- "A coat made from materials not of this world. For Clavat males only."
- —Body Armor description
In Ring of Fates, the best body armor for male Clavats is called the Layle's Jacket. The armor is designed after the outfit Layle is seen wearing. This is where Layle's name is first revealed through the armor.

- "Goggles clearly not of this world. For all tribes."
- —Headgear description
In Echoes of Time, Layle's Jacket appears once again as Body Armor for male Clavats, this time with matching Headgear called Layle's Goggles that all Tribes can wear. There is also two rare Scratch Cards that feature Layle. One featuring him in the air with his large gun and another featuring him confronting Amidatelion.
[edit] Etymology
Layle could be from the Arabic word "ليل" which pronounced the same as English and means "night".
