A katana smaller than its regular counterpart, as its name suggests. Many ninjas use this weapon as a tool to carry out quick actions because it is not only as sharp as a normal katana, but is easy to maneuver in tight spots as well. It's blade is razor-sharp, and its convenient size allows it to be used to deflect incoming attacks.

Etymology

A kodachi, literally translating into "small or short tachi (sword)", is a traditionally made Japanese sword used by the samurai class of feudal Japan originating from the early Kamakura period (1185–1333). Kodachi are mounted in tachi style but with a length of less than 60 cm. The exact use of the kodachi is unknown; it may have been a companion sword to normal sized tachi, or it may have been a sword for an adolescent. Kodachi appear to have been produced only in a certain time period by specific schools of swordmakers.
