Killer Bee is an enemy in Final Fantasy XV fought in random encounters throughout Cleigne, and during the To Sting in Anger hunt.

Killer bees and killer wasps are fought in a Timed Quest on the following days of the month: 15 and 30. Defeating them yields 100 QP.

Bestiary[]

Alpha
Oversized insect said to have grown through continued exposure to the warmth of the Meteor. A highly social creature, each bee fulfills a specific role in the colony. In the case of the killer bee, it primarily procures food for its brethren and defends the hive from any who would do it harm.
Size: 3.87 ft. Weight: 46.9 lb.
Beta
Killer bee responsible for a bevy of reported attacks along the Coernix Bypass. While this insect primarily forages for food, it is also known to preemptively attack potential aggressors—a tendency that deters future homeowners from purchasing real estate near nests.
Size: 3.87 ft. Weight: 47.4 lb.

Battle[]

Killer bees are weak to one-handed swords, firearms and ice. They resist lightning and light. They target the party with their stingers that inflict damage and Poison. They fly but not particularly high in the air. They can grab the player and lift them off the ground for a button-mashing QTE.

Strategy[]

They are not particularly durable so warp-striking them tends to work well, as does ice elemancy. High level ice magic can engulf the battle area in a blizzard to deal continuous damage to the entire swarm. Ignis's Enhancement Tech can bestow the ice element on Noctis's weapon to empower him.

A King's Tale FFXV Killer Bee

The main attack of Killer Bees is their projectile stinger. The stinger can be avoided with a roll-dodge (X/A), destroyed with a Strong Slash (Triangle/Y), fired back at the Killer Bee with a Quick Slash (Square/X), or deflected towards a different enemy with a Shield Bash (Circle/B). The red variants of the enemy will fire their stingers more often.

Etymology[]

Africanized honey bees, known colloquially as "killer bees", are a hybrid of the Western honey bee species produced originally by cross-breeding of the African honey bee with various European honey bees. The African honey bee was first introduced to Brazil in the 1950s to increase honey production, but, in 1957, 26 swarms escaped quarantine and, since then, have spread throughout South, Central and North America.

Africanized bees are characterized by far greater defensiveness than European honey bees. They are more likely to attack a perceived threat and, when they do so, attack relentlessly and in larger numbers. They have been known to pursue a perceived threat for a distance of well over 500 meters. This aggressively protective behavior has earned them the nickname "killer bees".
