Kigen Arts

Kigen Arts is a style of combat utilized by the character Lisa Pacifist throughout the anime series Final Fantasy: Unlimited. She is first seen using it against a monster in the very first episode of the program. Asked about it by, Ai and Yu, she explains it away as just being a sort of martial arts. It requires great training and discipline to master. In "Kigen Summon: Behind the Smile," it is learned that Lisa learned the Kigen Arts from her mother as a young child who was also a Kigen Arts master.

In actuality, in orderly to effectively practice the Kigen Arts, one must be fully in tune with the souls around them. Though in most instances, Lisa is mainly seen using it to direct a burst of energy at enemies, she twice uses it to assume the form of a Kigen Dragon. If too much power is used in the Kigen Dragon summoning, the person using the Kigen Arts will be killed. This happened to Lisa's mother when she tried to save their village from a disaster. Lisa too will attempt the same thing twice to save her friends, but she manages to survive both times.
