Joyeuse-ffxii

Joyeuse in Final Fantasy XII.

This sword celebrates the joy of victory for its wielder. On the matter of the victim, it is silent.

Joyeuse (ジュワユース, Jyuwayūsu?) is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is generally a powerful Rapier with high attack power, in addition to boosting Evasion.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XI[]

Joyeuse appears as a level 70 sword obtained as a drop from the Charybdis Notorious Monster. It has a damage rate of 35, a delay of 244, and increases dark resistance by 14 points. Its unique ability allows the wielder to occasionally attack twice. The sword can be equipped by Warriors, Red Mages, Paladins, Bards, Dragoons, Corsairs, and Dancers.

Prior to the Abyssea updates, the Joyeuse was popular with Red Mages and "Dual Wield" Warrior builds.

Final Fantasy XII[]

Joyeuse is the weapon used by Larsa. It cannot be equipped by the player through normal means. There are two different versions of the weapon; one for each instance he joins the party as a guest.

The first version has 30 Attack Power, 15 Evade, a Charge Time of 25, and a combo rate of 15. The second version is altered somewhat: 39 Attack Power, 5 Evade, a Charge Time of 35, and a combo rate of 10.

In the Zodiac versions, the second version is buffed: 40 Attack Power, 10 Evade, and a Charge Time of 30. It can also hit flying enemies.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Curtana, Joyeuse, Durandal... Eras have passed, monarchs have risen and fallen but the legends of these blades—and the men who did wield them—live on to this very day.

Well-schooled Steward

The weapon is mentioned in the 2015 Little Ladies' Day event. It is said that the Joyeuse is one of the three swords (the other two being the Curtana and Durandal) forged from the same steel. The swords were once wielded by the three legendary Sultansworn known collectively as the first paladins—great warriors who would attend the Royal House by the hand of Sasagan Ul Sisigan, the founder of the Ul'dahn nation.
