Job Mastered (ジョブマスター, Jobu Masutā?, lit. Job Master) is a recurring character condition in the Final Fantasy series. It signifies that a character has acquired all possible abilities in the given job and is visually indicated by a gold star or stars appearing over the character's head.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy V[]

FFV-jobs-iOS-Lenna

Lenna with all jobs mastered.

Upon advancing a given job to its maximum level, that job will be mastered. In the job selection screen, three gold stars will appear over the head of that job's sprite.

Mastering a job allows its stat bonuses and innate abilities (except the Berserker's Berserk, the Necromancer's Undead, and the Equipment abilities) to transfer over to the Freelancer and Mime jobs. Stat penalties do not transfer, and when multiple jobs are mastered, only the highest stat bonuses are carried over. For example, if a character has mastered both Black Mage (-9 Strength, 0 Agility, -2 Stamina, +31 Magic) and Blue Mage (-8 Strength, +1 Agility, +3 Stamina, +23 Magic), the stats changes given to the Freelancer and Mime would be +1 Agility, +3 Stamina, and +31 Magic, with no change to Strength.

Final Fantasy XI[]

FFXI Job Mastered

A player name with the mastery stars.

Upon spending 2100 Job Points in a particular job, the character gains the Gift ★Master! This adds a crown of triple stars floating over the character's head, which may be toggled on or off with the command /jobmasterdisp. Besides this optional cosmetic effect, the character also has the recast timer on their special job ability permanently shortened by 15 minutes, thus allowing them to use their job's special abilities every 45 minutes instead of once an hour.

Final Fantasy Tactics[]
