FFX Jinx

Jinx in Final Fantasy X.

Jinx (バッドタイム, Baddo Taimu?, lit. Bad Time) is a recurring ability in the series. Its effects vary per game.

Final Fantasy XEdit

X Jinx is a Special ability found on Kimahri's section of the Sphere Grid. It costs no MP to use.

It claims to lower the targets' Luck stat at once, but does not give the full impact of a reduced Luck. Each use reduces the evasion chance of all enemies by 1%, and increases the chance of landing a critical hit on them by 1%; it has no impact on the target's accuracy or their chance of landing a critical hit themselves in their attacks. The effect can be stacked of up to five times.

Final Fantasy XIIIEdit

Extend the duration of a target's existing status ailments upon inflicting new ones.

Jinx is the only Saboteur auto-ability. It increases the duration of all existing debuff and debilitation spells on the opponent by 5 seconds whenever a new ailment is inflicted.

Final Fantasy XIII-2Edit

XIII-2 Jinx is still the only auto-ability accessible by Saboteurs and no changes have been made. It is available to Serah via normal leveling, but the player needs to infuse a Saboteur monster with a combined total of 99 Synergist levels for the Saboteur to learn Jinx. Noel cannot learn it at all.

A jinx, in popular superstition and folklore, is a type of curse placed on a person that makes them prey to many minor misfortunes and other forms of bad luck; a person afflicted with a similar curse, who, while not directly subject to a series of misfortunes, seems to attract them to anyone in his vicinity; or an object or person that brings bad luck.
