Final Fantasy Type-0 Character
Constantly wears a smile and jokes around, the class clown. An unflappable optimist who tries to cheer others up, but is often seen as shallow.
—Online description[1]

Jack is a playable character in Final Fantasy Type-0. He represents the number 11 of Class Zero and wields a katana.

ProfileEdit

AppearanceEdit

Type0-Jack

Jack.

Jack is a young man with coiffed blond hair and electric blue eyes. As a member of Class Zero he wears uniform that consists of a black jacket with gold-padded shoulders, white pants, and a red cape. He wears a brown belt around his waist, allowing him to sheath his katana. His summer uniform has a white collared shirt with a black print on the side and black cuffs, a red cape, black trousers, white shoes and black tie, gloves and belt. His dress uniform has a red jacket with black-padded shoulders, white cape and gloves, black trousers with a silver decoration at the bottom, and a black belt.

In the Final Fantasy Type-0 HD exclusive attire Jack has a shiny golden mantle and black and white jacket with red fasteners.

PersonalityEdit

With a smile on his face and joke on the tip of his tongue, Jack is known as "Class Clown Zero." No matter what prickly predicament he and his classmates fall into, Jack always puts a positive spin on the situation. Although his unfaltering optimism should theoretically inspire his classmates, his glib nature prevents the rest of Class Zero from taking his words of encouragement too seriously.
Rubicus

Rarely seen without a smile, Jack is the class clown. Whatever situation he comes across, he gets through it with a positive attitude, often using the occasional joke or words of encouragement to lighten the mood. His immaturity stems from his belief of it being up to him to cheer up everyone when they encounter the occasional slump. His swordsmanship skills, however, reveal a more stoic nature. After telling a good joke, Seven points out Jack is "always smiling on the outside but never on the inside", leading the latter to conclude someone finally understands him.

Final Fantasy Type-0Edit

Yeah it will. If we stay positive, we can picture a brighter future!
—Jack[2]

Jack is a young man who is a member of Class Zero, a group of students from the Peristylium Suzaku, the Magic Academy of the nation of Rubrum, that fight the invasion of Rubrum by the Militesi Empire. As part of the resistance operation "Operation Apostle", he and his comrades seek to become the Agito, a messiah prophesied in ancient mythology to appear at the time of Tempus Finis, an apocalyptic calamity.

In the alternate ending caused by Arecia's removal of the crystals from Orience's history, Jack lives his life at the Peristylium with the rest of the members in Class Zero. Jack plays the drums in a group comprised of himself, Trey, and King. When they decide to skip practice he protests, but eventually goes along with them, saying he doesn't want to be left out.

Jack wields a katana in battle. He boasts the highest Strength in the party, but at the same time, is the slowest-moving character, which is probably his greatest disadvantage. Players must either have Jack sheath his weapon in order for him to run normally, or they may have to resort to having Jack dodge, or sidestep, with his weapon in order to move around the field easily. His abilities rely on timing, especially for counterattacking. If timed correctly, Jack can make short work of his enemies. Despite his slow speed in battle, players can still be assured that Jack is an effective character for attacking enemies, and possibly exploiting Kill Sites and Break Sites as well. Unfortunately, Jack has the poorest dodging ability. Unlike the other characters who rolls, slides, cartwheels and even teleports, he slides forwards, but with a prolonged time which impairs his time between evasions.

Initially, Jack's attack only consists of a single downward slash, with upgrade, he can perform two more slashes. the second slash being a horizontal slash, while the final one is another downward slash. Each of the strikes by default, has equal critical hit ratio which is very convenient despite Jack's miniscule number of combo hits. By pressing the attack input while tilting the analog stick down, Jack performs 'Focus', an passive ability that allows him to boost his normal attack power for his single, next attack. By default, Jack has the least combo hit, being only one hit combo before upgrading using the Combo Bonus upgrade. Even with the combo, his number of combo hits pars with Cinque's being only three hits per full combo.

Additionally, Jack has the slowest rate of learning his abilities; they must be learned one at a time. Players must be willing to train Jack to the fullest in order to attain his strongest potential.

First, Jack knows the Reflex ability. The ability allows him to perform a subtle guard that, with proper timing, allows him to evade the attack, and perform a lunging counterattack. Another ability, which has the same counteroffensive tactic as Reflex, is Tranquility. Also, with proper timing, Jack can use the ability to evade attacks and performs a heavily damaging lightning-fast roundhousing slash as a counterattack. Unlike Reflex however, Tranquility has considerably longer time between action, which may leave jack vulnerable to ranged attackers.

The Lightning Flash ability, allows Jack to slash with flurry of combos, significantly faster than his normal attacks. Comparatively, the Lightning Flash ability has quite a good critical hit ratio, but is lower than Jack's normal attacks. It is exceptionally helpful when wanting to stagger enemies much easily.

Piercing Gleam is basically a Defense lowering ability. When performing it, Jack lunges forwards hitting his target, then next slash then will inflicts the Defense Break. The chance to inflict Defense Break is quite high, slightly higher than Cater's Weakening Bullet, despite the sluggishness. This ability pretty much is quite hard to use because it leaves Jack rather vulnerable to attacks before his Defense Breaking slash.

Next, Jack can learn the Deliverance ability. This ability is pretty much a 'wait and strike' ability which emphasizes more towards Kill-Sight exploitation. During locking-on an target, when ability is performed on the target with Break-Sight or Kill-Sight opportunity on them, Jack will then quickly slide towards then with high speed and then delivers a powerful blow at them. This ability very much help Jack against evasive and ranged attacking enemies such as the Evil Eyes and even the Imperial Troopers.

Last but not least, Jack has the very powerful, Transience ability. This ability is undeniably powerful, but risky as well. When used, Jack immediately uses his own blood to fuse with his sword, causing his HP to drop to zero. Then, he delivers a mighty red slash of aura than damages all enemies in a large area in front of Jack. This ability should only be used if Jack is not targeted by others enemies, especially the sneaky ranged attackers. Note that, if Jack performs this ability with no enemies within the range or targeted by him, the ability would instead take his own life, immediately inflicting KO.
