The Hydra is a field boss in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers relative of the Malboro.

Battle

Hydra begins the battle with its core submerged and immune to attacks. The player will have to attack its tentacles, defeating them one by one to get the hydra to slowly surface. After slaying two tentacles, the player is able to target him and attack him, destroying all four will have him surface completely allowing Layle to yank its mouth open and force it to bite its tongue and throw objects at him, which will cause it to fill up slowly until it drowns. It's also recommended to search the area for the Excalibur sword which is found on the pond's central island, the sword is easily the strongest projectile you can find making it really useful in this fight.
