The Hrimthurs is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2. It is moderately difficult in the early game, but is of no threat later on after Chapter 3. It is best to use Nul-spells when it is in Oversoul to prevent damage from its elemental attacks, and to use Protect to reduce the damage from its physical attacks. It also has access to Hi-Potions when in Oversoul, so it is recommended to try and take it down as quickly as possible. Using Demi or Demi Sword to inflict the most damage upon it, or try inflicts Poison on it as well as Silence to reduce its ability to use its spells.
In the Fiend Tale endings, a notable Hrimthurs searches for legendary underwear known as the Ultimate Undergarments, defeating various fiends on his quest before his search leads him to the Macalania Woods where he finds the chest that supposedly contains these undergarments. However, inside is only a letter, stating that there is no need for apparatus and that strength is obtained by freeing mind and body. Shinra stopping the footage from there, Hrimthurs removes his loincloth as he sees no more need for any article of clothing. Viewing this Fiend Tale's ending will cause the Superpants team to appear in the Fiend Arena.
[view·edit·purge]Hrimthur is another name for Jötunn, a race of giants in Norse mythology. Hrimthurs is any one of the particular tribe of giants who are made of ice and inhabit Niflheim, a land of eternal cold. Hrimthurs being the name of a person who built the walls around Asgard with aid of Svadilfari is actually a misconception, probably stemming from mistaking the tribal attribution of the builder for his name. The actual stonemason's name is uncertain. It is usually only stated that he was eventually revealed to be a hrimthurs. The word hrimthurs is a fusion of (h)rim rime + thurs giant).
