A smart but timid boy, this middle school student was on a trip with his mother when they become caught up in the Purge. His mother is lost to him during the battle between Sanctum's forces and those opposing the Purge, and Hope himself is made into a Pulse l'Cie. He hates Snow, blaming NORA's leader for the death of his mother, and works alongside him waiting only for his chance for revenge.

An ordinary, if somewhat sensitive, young boy. Hope and his mother were caught up in the Purge while sightseeing; Hope survived, his mother did not. He began to harbor a hatred against Snow, whose actions had inadvertently led to his mother's death.
Hope is a playable character who could be recruited during the Challenge Event Chasing Hope as the First Time Reward for completing the event's The Palamecia - Bow stage on the Classic difficulty. He was also available in Fang's Oath.
Hope's combat role is Physical/Magic Hybrid.
Though listed as a fighter-mage, Hope's stat growth favors attack magic more than physical might. In fact, he's a direct complement to Vanille from the same Record Realm, who favors healing magic. Like Vanille, Hope can function as a mid-ranked Summoner. Using him as a Black Mage, however, should suffice for most players.
His default Soul Break is Fearsiphon, which at the expense of one Soul Gauge segment deals damage to the enemy and grants Haste to the user. The thrown weapon Skycutter (XIII) allows Hope to use Brutal Sanction, which at the expense of one Soul Gauge segment deals non-elemental magic damage to three random targets, each hit dealing 350% damage potency of a conventional magic attack totaling to 1050% damage potency, and inflicts Stop with 50% accuracy for 6 seconds. The thrown weapon Airwing (XIII) allows Hope to use Earthquake, which at the expense of one Soul Gauge segment deals magic earth damage to all targets equal to 855% damage potency of a conventional magic attack and reduce their Attack by 50% for 25 seconds. The thrown weapon Hawkeye (XIII) gives Hope access to the Super Soul Break Last Resort, which for one Soul Gauge segment deals eight magic Holy attacks to one target. The thrown weapon Ninurta (XIII) grants Hope the Burst Soul Break Divine Judgment, which for one Soul Gauge segment deals four magic Holy attacks to all targets and allows Hope to enter Burst Mode, where, imbued with holy light, he can quickly strike with Holy or Earth attacks for a short time. Mastery of the two advanced Soul Breaks will permanently raise Hope's Magic by 10 points apiece.
Hope can equip the following weapon types: daggers, rods, staves, and thrown. The thrown weapons Skycutter (XIII), Airwing (XIII), Hawkeye (XIII), and Ninurta (XIII) allow Hope to use Brutal Sanction, Earthquake, Last Resort, and Divine Judgment respectively.

Hope appears as a vision obtainable through summoning. His job is l'Cie. His trust mastery reward is Nue. He possesses the special abilities MP +20%, DEF +20%, Area Blast and MAG +20%. He possesses the magics Esuna, Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Deshell, Waterga, Aeroga and Raise. He can exclusively use the Tezcatlipoca and the special abilities Attacker and Defender. His limit burst is Last Resort.
