Holy

Holy (ホーリー, Hōrī) is a recurring term in the series. It is famed for its appearance in the North American localization of the original Final Fantasy being censored by Nintendo USA, in which it was called FADE.

Ever since its first appearance, Holy is maintained as an element of light, which provides protection against the undead and monsters of darkness. As such, it is usually associated with White Magic.

As counterpart to the element Dark, Holy first appeared in Final Fantasy II.

Holy is generally the only offensive spell of the White Magic class, which greatly damages undead and other dark-elemental enemies.
