Hold (HOLD on the NES and Bind in Final Fantasy Origins) is a level 3 Black Magic spell that can be bought in Elfheim and learned by the Black Mage, Black Wizard, Red Mage, Red Wizard, and Ninja classes. It inflicts Paralysis on a single target with a high rate of success. In the GBA/PSP/mobile releases it costs 10 MP to cast. Hold can be cast by Ogre Mage, Beholder, Death Eye, Horned Devil, Water Naga, Lich, and Marilith.
Stun (STUN in the NES release) is a level 6 Black Magic spell which always inflicts Paralysis on a single enemy that has 300 HP or less, unless they resist the status element. The spell can be bought at Crescent Lake and can be learned by the Black Mage and Black Wizard. In the GBA/PSP/mobile releases it costs 20 MP to cast. Stun can be cast by Dark Wizard and Marilith.
Hold is a White Magic spell, learned by Rosa, Porom, Rydia and Fusoya. It has a casting time of 1, costs 5 MP to use and it has an accuracy of 85% in the 2D versions. In the 3D versions it has 45% accuracy. Edge's Shadowbind ability functions in the same manner. Tiny Mage is the only enemy capable of casting this spell.
Hold is level driven, and will automatically fail if Paralyze or other statuses with a higher priority are priory inflicted on the target, and the duration of the status is directly linked to the Spirit stat. There are some bosses who can be inflicted with Paralyze, such as Barbariccia.
Hold is a White Magic ability with a Rarity of 2☆. It Paralysis one target, it can initially be used four times and can be honed to Rank 5. It can be created by using Lesser White Orb x5, Lesser Earth Orb x3, Lesser Holy Orb x3, and 3000 gil.
